It is obvious, J. Desmound Clark is a world figure and an eminent scholar. I don't want to mention many things about his great works but what I never hesitate to speak of is my being fortunate in getting acquainted with him, first in Addis, then in the field (Middle Awash). In those short days I actually learned from him not archeology alone, but professional commitment, physical and moral strength.
